BIRTHDAY WEEKENDER

Bearing in mind it’s been a full on year with the 2 kids and we’ve got my 40th next year we decided to go for totally understated, just do stuff with the fam kind of day. My twin was also busy with work and we agreed to put a summer day in the diary to celebrate when things arent so hectic for boht of us.

My partner made me my fave dishes. Its a scandi breakfast of fish and toast and leomon and cucumber, possibly an egg if we’re getting crazy with it.

He’d got a balloon and a banner and done paint hand prints from the kids which i just think is about as wholesome and delicious as things get.

We went to a rickety old farm near us where you can cuddle goats and feed lambs, ‘for the kids’ but honestly - heavenly. Animals are my poison! If i were the super rich i’d rescue animals on a ranch in cornwall of course!

We went to the pub and tried to play some ball with the kiddos which spends some energy and some time, then I got home and I walked the dog along my heavenly favourite towpath, taking in the smells and sights and animals I could see there.

Another fave for dinner, spanish stew, dont ask me how he makes it. It’s got chicken thighs, lots of stock and some red wine in it amongst ither things and its hearty healthy and made with love. Perhaps I had a bath, although this has hinestely only happened a couple of times since rex was born whihc kind of implies what zone im in right now.

The second day of the weekend my best friends twins birthday party, and our kids get along very well so really it was the best kind of village raising the kids situation, all our sprogs playing and gowing. Im pregnant so things have to stay calm, physically easy.

Next year should be big things? My twin and i havent decided, but i want to make sure we dont let it pass us by unmarked in some way. Birthdays are a reminder you are alive, you are lucky, you are living,

My kids birthdays are in the same month. We got all our pals up from london, and the new fantastic ones we’ve collected locally, and toddler raved it up in the village hall with inflatables and soft play. Then the pub of course. I don’t knwo who had a better time. Us or the kids.
